The Saugus election results were posted last night, and election debates continue, including specifically discussions on voter turn-out (remember if you're curious about how many people voted in past elections, we have the detailed Saugus election results back through 1998 available online) and the effects the failed override will have on the town.

The election is today, so be sure to read all the arguments both for and against the override and get out there and vote your mind.

The results of the Saugus override election have been posted.

Don't forget that there will be a Proposition 2¹/₂ override election tomorrow. There have been lots of override discussions on the forums lately, so be sure to check them out to see both sides argued prior to voting.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Ross Alameddine, the Saugonian who was killed in Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech.

The Saugus Rotary Club site was updated during the long weekend.

The office will be closed today for the holiday. However, the Community Events Calendar, Saugus Forums, and other like pages will continue to be updated.

The Saugus Curbside Recycling and Yard Waste Collection Information page was updated today.

The Saugus Cemetery Commission asked us to post the following:

Beginning the week of April 22, 2007 the Cemetery Department will begin to remove all winter decorations.

If you have anything you wish to keep, please remove these items before the clean-up date.

Saugus Director of Public Works Joseph Attubato asked us to post the following:

The Town of Saugus will open the compost site located in the rear of the Dept. of Public Works at 515 Main Street on Saturday, April 14, 2007.

There is a seasonal fee of $25.00 that must be paid by check or money order. No cash will be accepted. No exceptions to this rule.

Stickers may be purchased at the D.P.W. office or at the compost site, by check or money order.

The compost site will remain open until the first snow storm, in the fall.

Yard waste must be in brown compost bags or you may use open containers. We will be accepting leaves, grass clippings, and brush. No branches or limbs larger than 3" in diameter.

The stickers must be permanently placed on the lower left corner of the windshield. No out of state plates allowed.

Without a sticker we will not allow entry to the compost site.
