The Summer Reading Adventure wraps up with a Grand Finale Party with Mr. DJ! Kids star in this fun-filled event with games, contests and lots of cool prizes! Open to all participants of the Summer Reading Adventure. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Beale Street Blues, a premier local blues band will bring their unique blues styling to a summer evening concert at Breakheart. Please bring blankes or chairs, or even your supper!

Join us for LocalFest! Sample delicious local products, bring the kids for fun family activities including face painting and balloon sculptures, and enjoy hot prices on cool summer produce!

The United States Navy Show Band from Newport, RI will entertain at Breakheart at this summer evening concert. Please bring blankes or chairs, or even your supper! Please note that this concert has been rescheduled to this date due to inclement weather; it was originally supposed to happen on July 12th.

Wanted: Treasure Seekers! Children who are 4 years old through the completion of 5th grade are invited to come on an island adventure at the First Baptist Church, Melrose August 14th through 17th from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon. Children will enjoy games, crafts, snacks, and other activities as they explore God’s love. On Thursday Aug. 17th they will participate in an evening celebration from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Families can register at www.myvbs.com/VBSatFBCMelrose/ and the cost is just $5 per child with a $10 per family limit. This meeting is open to all residents. The focus of this group is to obtain more money for the Schools and to have a better, overall Saugus Public School system.

For those folks who are not that well acquainted with this great natural site in the heart of our town, this is a great opportunity to visit and enjoy this gem in our midst. All of our membership, friends and family, as well as other interested citizens, are invited to come and relax on a wonderful summer day and get to know this site better. Activities will include nature walks with tree and/or wildlife identification, canoe rides, face painting, and a scavenger hunt for the youngsters! SAVE will provide soft drinks and water, and we encourage everyone to bring a picnic lunch. Please note that this event has been moved to its rain date.
