Lynn—On Friday August 6th, 7:30 p.m., 2010, CAB Health & Recovery Services, Inc. will host the 6th annual overdose vigil on the Lynn Common in the Gazebo. This vigil is to remember those we lost through drug overdose, and to give hope to those still struggling with addiction. We encourage people to join us in trying to discard the stigma around fatal overdose and remember that we have truly lost friends, family, wives, husbands and community. Build a sand sculpture or just come to view the fabulous creations at this annual family event. Visitors may see giant vegetables, whimsical junk food, and more with this year’s theme of You Are What You Eat. Prizes will be awarded to the best creations. Competition categories include: Kid, Teen, Family, Adult, Corporate/Organization, and Master Builder. To add to the festivities, there will be fun family activities on the beach front from Noon to 4 pm, as well as live music, t-shirt sales, and the “Peoples Choice” Award that invites the public to vote for their favorite creation. To register in advance, call 978.356.4351 x4015. The registration fee per team is $7 plus regular beach admission. Sorry, no advance sales for spectators/beachgoers—plan to come early in the day and pay regular beach admission.

From 1884-1917, Mason A. Walton lived a hermit's life in Ravenswood. As we walk in his footsteps to the site of his cabin, we'll track signs of wildlife just as Walton did, using these clues to determine the animal's behavior.
