Simon Kidgits Club members are invited to become part of "The next generation of mischief" and host a "Mask Painting Party." Kids will paint the mask from Son of the Mask, and have a chance to win movie passes and other great prizes. Son of the Mask is a family comedy about a child that is born with the Mask's spectacular powers to the dismay of a jealous dog- it turns the household upside down and launches a kid versus canine battle for control of the mask. Son of the Mask features incredible special effects for the entire family! Son of the Mask is in theatres February 18. Rated PG.

Many wild animals normally associated with distant wilderness have in recent years filtered ack into their ancestral ranges and are now living close to us in metroplitan parks such as Breakheart Reservation. However, so secretive are many of these animals that their presence is rarely suspected. Although they are hard to observe directly, anyone familiar with the evidence these animals leave behind can determine their presence. This slide/video program will introduce the tracks and signs of species such as Eastern coyote, red and gray foxes, deer, fisher, ermine and even bobcat. All species that can be found in metropolitan parks. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please call 781-233-0834 to register. This program will take us outside to find and identify animal tracks. If there is snow, we may be lucky enough to find and identify the trails of coyote, fisher, deer otter and other wild animals normally associated with the distant wilderness, but which in recent years have taken up residence in Breakheart and other metropolitan parks. In the event of a lack of snow, we will search for other signs of animal presence such as scat, digs, feeding signs and burrows as well as tracks in mud along the Saugus River. About two miles at most will be covered at a slow pace, dress accordingly with warm clothes and snow/waterproof shoes. Registration is required as space is limited. Enjoy an old fashioned ham and bean sunday supper with all the trimmings either after your tracking walk earlier in the afternoon, or just come for the meal. Naturalist Dave Brown will answer questions about Breakheart or nature in general during the meal. Menu consists of ham, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread, brown bread and peach, apple or cherry cobbler for dessert, plus coffee and tea all for $5.00 per person.
