In May at the peak of the migration season many of these birds arrive at the park to breed or to rest before continuing north. Join David Brown, a professional naturalist with a lifelong attachment to Breakheart, on a two hour search for migratory birds in the park. At the visitor center we will view his videotape of all the colorful warblers that can be seen here during the spring. Wear shoes comfortable for walking paths. About two miles will be covered at a slow pace. Bring water as well as binoculars and field guides if you have them. Tuesday, May 31stLocation: 17 Howard Street, Saugus Ma Type: Meeting Price per Person: free Description: Tours of the house on the hour from 11am-4pm An opportunity to see inside this c. 1687 house built for the young family of William Boardman, a local joiner, this house has survived remarkably intact since its construction. Interesting features that were discovered include a wall of original 17th century oak clapboards that are visible from the lean-to attic, ceilings on the upper floor that were never plastered, and a portion of skirt board that once finished the rear wall of the house. With the exception of minor structural stabilization and repairs, the house has since gone unaltered, providing a great opportunity to view 17th and 18th century construction techniques and finishes. Depending on the programs purpose and musical selection, The Rogues appear attired in either 18th or 19th Century clothing or a combination of the two periods, adding to the color and charm of the performance. Each musical selection has a prelude explanation of the songs history, folklore and meaning. A myriad of emotions is expected to be experienced by the audience.
