Saugus Garden Club to March in Veterans Day Parade The Saugus Garden Club, member of the National Garden Clubs, will have the honor of marching in the Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11, from the American Legion Hall on Taylor Street to Veterans Park at the corner of Central and Winter Streets. The parade will start at 10:30 and the ceremony will take place at 11:00, the time of the signing of the Armistice of WWI. The club will be part of the ceremony, dedicating the Blue Star Memorial which has been installed. Blue Star Memorials were started in 1945 by the New Jersey Garden Clubs to pay tribute to all our men and women from all the branches of the armed services, past, present and future. Soon, there were Blue Star Highway Signs and By-Way Plaques in every state in the country. Many states have several. The Saugus Garden Club will be responsible for maintaining and landscaping the area around the site, and welcomes contributions to assist in funding the installation and upkeep. We invite all Blue Star Families, relatives, friends, and neighbors to attend the ceremony honoring all of our veterans. Thanks to all who have supported our efforts in this worthy cause.

Please bring a favorite dish to share with others. It can be a main dish, salad, or dessert, your choice. Following dinner we will have a short business meeting, election of officers, and a trivia game. We will be in need of officers, directors, and committee chairs. Why not consider a position?

A Service of Remembrance for Thelma Holbrook will be held at East Saugus UMC on Sunday, Nov.15th, at 10AM. Thelma was the sexton at East Saugus UMC for decades. She was one of the faithful supporters of ecumenical gathering in the community. New paraments will be placed at the altar, lectern and pulpit in honor of her devotion to the Church and community. A luncheon will follow after the service. East Saugus UMC is chairlift accessible and is located at 85 Chesnut Street., Saugus, MA.

Class of 1969 are celebrating their 40th reunion at the Kowloon Restaurant on Saturday , November 21 2009. Cocktails are from 6:30-7:30P.M. and a dinner buffet at 7:30-11:30P.M. and a D.J..
