The parade will start at 10:30 and the ceremony will take place at 11:00, the time of the signing of the Armistice of WWI. The club will be part of the ceremony, dedicating the Blue Star Memorial which has been installed. Blue Star Memorials were started in 1945 by the New Jersey Garden Clubs to pay tribute to all our men and women from all the branches of the armed services, past, present and future. Soon, there were Blue Star Highway Signs and By-Way Plaques in every state in the country. Many states have several. The Saugus Garden Club will be responsible for maintaining and landscaping the area around the site, and welcomes contributions to assist in funding the installation and upkeep. We invite all Blue Star Families, relatives, friends, and neighbors to attend the ceremony honoring all of our veterans. Thanks to all who have supported our efforts in this worthy cause.
