Dailies for October of 2006October 31, 2006 We've now started to post the winners in our ninth annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. We'll be continuing to post them throughout the night, category by category. October 30, 2006 The judges continue to read all the entries submitted for the Halloween Writing Contest. If you submitted an entry, please verify that you specified the age category in which you're competing; if you failed to do so, you should have received an e-mail from us mentioning that fact. October 27, 2006 The deadline for the Halloween Ghost Story Writing Contest passed in the early AM, so no more entries will be accepted for this year. Good luck to everyone who entered; as usual the winning entries will be posted live Halloween night. If you e-mailed an entry and didn't get a confirmation response, please contact us as soon as possible to verify that your entry wasn't lost in the æther. October 26, 2006 Tonight's the deadline for the Ghost Story Writing Contest! Anything received after tonight will have to wait until next year. October 25, 2006 The Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment site was updated today. October 24, 2006 The Computer Terms Dictionary got updated today. October 23, 2006 The Saugus Historical Society site was updated today. October 20, 2006 This is the final weekend before the Halloween Ghost Story Contest deadline next Thursday night. If you can only write during the weekend, this is your last chance. October 19, 2006 More information about the new Saugus book, Of Time and the River: Saugus 1900-2005 (including an order form) has been posted. Entries for the Halloween Ghost Story Contest need not actually have to involve Halloween; read some of the past winning entries for samples of the sorts of stories that win. You'll be surprised at the variety. October 12, 2006 This is just a reminder not to forget your contact information and age category when you send in your entry for the Halloween Ghost Story Contest. There's now just two weeks left before the deadline. October 11, 2006 Since it's getting colder out now and the yard sales season has passed (it's been a couple weeks since the last yard sale was posted) we've removed the Saugus Area Yard Sales Calendar from the sidebar. It'll return with the warmer weather. October 10, 2006 We've sent responses for all the entries that we have received so far for this year's Halloween Ghost Story Writing Contest (that provided us with contact information, anyway). If you sent a story and have not yet gotten a confirmation message, please let us know. October 9, 2006 The office will be closed today for the holiday. However, the Community Events Calendar, Area Yard Sales Calendar, Saugus Forums, and other like pages will continue to be updated. Also, note that today is the final day of the Topsfield Fair, and there are some Saugonians that have been regular staples there for years, so if you're planning on heading up that way today be sure to check out the stands run by Sullivan's Old Fashioned Cider and the Kowloon Restaurant. October 6, 2006 The Town Hall asked us to post the following announcement:
October 5, 2006 A bit more sample information from the new book Of Time and the River: Saugus 1900-2005 has been made available. You can now read two full sample articles from it online. As usual, the new entry was added to the final page of cards. October 2, 2006 October is here, and Halloween is nigh. If you're planning on entering this year's Ghost Story Writing Contest remember that the deadline is on October 26th. Be sure to check out some of the past year's winners to get a feel for the sorts of stories that win. |
