The Revere High Homework Massacre

by
Alex Ibanez

Long ago, on a dark and dreary night an urban legend was born. Many have heard the grim tale of the haunted homework, but few rarely know the truth. What had started out as any other homework assignment would end up being his wicked demise. The task was easy. Write a story so scary it would scare the pants off anyone who dared to read it. The entry was to be e-mailed to the owners of the scary story contest upon completion. This is when things turned for the worse. The gloomy student had wrote a story so miserable, and so sinister that it would kill anyone who read its words. It was perfect. He was sure to win, but little did the morbid child know his father had neglected to pay the damn Comcast bill. What could this possibly mean for him though? It was the unthinkable. His internet connection was down. What a cruel and ironic turn of fate. No e-mail was ever sent. Surely his teacher would not believe this peculiar outcome. Filled with hatred and disgust towards this merciless world he printed out his paper with the new ink he has just purchased. He returned to school the next day. He walked the halls like a zombie, dreadful of his approaching English class. First period waits for no man however. Apologizing for the inconvenience, he passed in his paper while explaining his situation. She was not amused. Regardless, she took his paper. Sitting at her desk before her many students she read to herself the wretched contents of the story. With each passing word her blood began to boil. A deep sweat took control of her. Sentence after sentence she kept reading, swiftly drawing close to its conclusion. As was her life. Death was imminent. Looming over her like a black crow in the early dawn. She read the final two words aloud, "The End". Gushing from her mouth was her own blood she would soon suffocate on. The students looked on in horror and nausea. The author of the sinful story gazed on with tormented delight. On his face lay a sick grin. In her remaining moments of life she looked upon his evil smirk, and in a dramatically gruesome ending she collapsed on her desk within a pool of blood. The carnage was overwhelming. They would later find her body clinging onto the story. The police read off the name of the boy's paper. "The Revere High Homework Massacre", the rest smeared in a crimson bloodbath. He was taken away for acts of unnatural slaughter. Both him and the story were never seen again, but some believe that one day an unlucky teacher might just find herself reading the spiteful words of his cursed tale. Its contents are unknown, and its whereabouts are a mystery, but one thing is certain. This story is over.

The End
