The Evil Spell Book

When I moved into Saugus the week before Halloween, I didn't have any friends. I didn't start to go to my new school yet, and I didn't like my boring, small neighborhood. The house I moved into was old and my room was the worst room in the house. It had a big hole in the wall. My dad said he would fix it, but I doubted if he would do it right.

When I went to my new school for the first time on Halloween, I thought I could make some new friends. Our teacher, Mrs. Hike, told the class a Halloween story that day. She said that seventy five years ago on Halloween, a witch started to take over the town. The town got mad and tried to hang her, but she turned several townspeople into mice with her magical spell book that had gems all over it. Once the townspeople got her, they hanged her and hid her spell book in the oldest house in town where nobody could find it. The story finished by saying that if anybody finds it and touches it, the witch would return to the town and try to take over again.

When I got home, I told my sister, brother, mom, and dad the story. They said that this town has a really spooky history. After I told them the story, I went up to my room. I thought for a moment, “The townspeople hid it in the oldest house in the town.” I thought again and again. Then I went over and looked in the hole in my wall. Then I saw it! There was the spell book from the story! I thought I was seeing things. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. It was still there.

I picked the book up out of the hole and it started to shake. “What's happening?” I screamed. I threw the book on the floor and my whole house started to shake! All of a sudden the book flew open and a witch started to pop out of the pages. Then the witch was standing in my room. “You released me. Thank you. I will now get my revenge and take over Saugus!!!!!” Then the witch picked up the spell book and held out her hand. A flying broom broke through my bedroom window and flew into the witch's hand. Then she sat on the broom and flew out my window. “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !” she laughed as she soared away with the spell book.

I knew I had to stop her before she took over the whole town and get revenge! The next morning when I got to my school, it seemed like the witch had been there. On the bricks, there was a message. It was written in blood. It said, “I took over the school, and now I will have the town.” There was caution tape everywhere. My guess was that school was canceled was correct. I knew I had to find the witch. I knew exactly where she would go. She would go to her old house.

I ran as fast as I could until I got to my house. When my teacher told us the story, she said that when the witch was released, the only way to destroy her was to use her own magic against her. I knew what I had to do. I needed a weapon. I took a piece of wood off the house and made a wooden stake. I kicked open the door and just as the witch was about to do a spell to take over the town, I knocked down the spell book out of her hands, turned the pages, and said a spell. Suddenly the witch vanished in a gust of wind. I knew she wasn't going to be back in this town.

I decided to destroy the spell book to make sure the witch never comes back. With my stake, I struck the spell book and there was a big glow, and then it disappeared. The town was safe. That was all that mattered.
