I do wish to take this time to say thank you for
remembering me and especially Lois Walsh. My life in
Saugus was nothing to write home but after people like
yourselfs writeing in and shareing your old times you had
in Saugus brought back some of mine. How can any one not
remember the slop shop, the rat hole, the State, but the
best winter sport of all was ice bucking. To see who
could float down the Saugus River one an ice cake to
reach the East Saugus bridge was something to behold. I
use to think I was salty by putting a pack of Lucky
Strikes rolled up in my shirt sleves and as I return to
Saugus I look at the Honor Role that was just in front of
the old Saugus High, I see the boys that did not come
home, they were the salty ones. I gave Uncle Sam 35 years
and the last 22 years I try to help those who have
trouble with drugs and alcohol, been there done that and
thank you again for thinking of me, pay is not too bad
today. Bob(Rody) Rodenhiser
