Saugus Annual Town Meeting highlights include the passing of articles to fund an audit of all the Town's accounts etc., to partially fund Saugus' share of the Northeast Regional School District, and to fund building maintenance and repairs in the Saugus Public Schools. Most interesting though was not what was done, but what was not done. Of the fifty Town Meeting Members, only twenty-seven showed up (only Precinct 9 was fully represented; Precinct 6 wasn't represented at all). In the final article considered (an article to require the review of planned work on thirty-plus year-old public buildings by the Historical Commission), two members walked out of the room to kill the quorum and effectively force a table.

Saugus Annual Town Meeting highlights include the passing of a balanced budget (both town and school side). This year most budgets remained level funded; some received cuts (like capital equipment) and some received small increases (like the schools). The Saugus Annual Town Meeting will continue tonight rather than next Monday as there are still so many items on the agenda.

Saugus Annual Town Meeting highlights include the passing of an article to raise the water rates to cover the actual water costs. This article was quite controversial, and while most Town Meeting Members seemed to be of the opinion that the water rates ought to cover the water costs, there were differences in opinion as to how the rates ought to be brought in sync with the costs, and in fact how the actual costs are measured. An amendment to cut the increase in half just barely failed, 20 - 24. An amendment to give seniors a 10% discount passed, and an amendment to provide an early payment discount failed.
