Per our report yesterday, our Web servers are now all running in a temporary configuration and DNS has been changed to point to the new location. Less popular services like FTP, gopher, and dict will have a short stretch of downtime as we establish a long term installation.

We've gotten word that our upstream provider, the telephone company from which we rent both space and bandwidth, will be going out of business in the immediate future, and we will be having to remove our servers from their location by this Friday. We will be transferring all our data to other servers in other locations prior to that and will generally be trying to ensure that this has as minimal an impact as possible, but there are likely to be some disruptions to Saugus.net, ShellTown, and Newton's Library over the next several weeks as we shuffle around both servers and data and make corresponding changes to DNS. Please try to bear with us and have a little understanding as we work through this.

Our upstream provider, a telephone company from which we rent space and bandwidth, has been having an increasing number of issues lately. These have been getting more and more difficult for us to deal with, and some of them have been starting to impact our overall performance here. We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to let everyone know we're doing what we can.

Recently we've been getting swamped with bogus spam events for the Saugus Events Calendar and Saugus Yard Sales Calendar. All of these have been getting rejected by our human moderators, but it's making us a little slower than normal approving the real ones. We apologize for the inconvenience.
