Dailies for February of 1999

February 26, 1999

Remember that the month ends this weekend. If you haven't already voted on this month's survey and are interested in doing so, make sure you vote this weekend or early Monday morning. We'll post the results some time Monday afternoon.

You're probably already aware of this, but there is a snow emergency in effect in Saugus and most of the surrounding towns due to the storm. To facilitate the work of the snow plows, cars should not be parked on the streets (and in fact cars on the streets may be ticketed).

February 24, 1999

We've added a couple more links on the News sources page recently.

February 23, 1999

The highlights from Saturday's benefit concert have been posted.

February 22, 1999

There were some minor updates to the Home Pages and Entertainment pages today. Tomorrow we'll try and post some highlights from Saturday's benefit concert.

February 20, 1999

Although we usually don't update the "dailies" here on Saturday, we wanted to remind everyone about the benefit rock concert in Saugus tonight (as detailed in the Community Event Calendar). This concert features some of the best local talent and will include performances ranging from ska to alterna-metal in style. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish foundation in memory of Daniel Ludwig, the former Saugus High School student (and local bass player) who heroically saved his younger sister from drowning this past summer but tragically gave his own life in the process. Support your local music scene and a great cause at the same time. Saugus.net will be there, and we'll be giving away a few T-shirts. Doors will open at 5:30 (the opening band will start performing around 5:45), but capacity is limited and the event is expected to sell out well before it ends at 10:00 tonight, so people are advised to get there early.

February 18, 1999

We've updated the Government page to include a section for county government (that currently contains just one entry). If anyone knows of any other important Essex County government sites that we're missing, please let us know.

There have been some minor updates to the Computer Terms page today in addition to the usuals.

February 16, 1999

There have been numerous minor updates scattered all over the site today. Of particular interest are updates to the Computer Extensions page and the nearby towns page.

February 15, 1999

The offices here will be closed today for the holiday, but we'll still be updating the Community Event Calendar with events received via its online form. Likewise the survey will continue to run normally throughout the day and up through the end of the month (on a related note, those interested in the survey may also want to check out the grassroots refund effort planned for today -- some people may rightfully have $50 - $200 due back to them from their original computer purchase, but they won't get it unless they make the request).

February 12, 1999

The non-profit organization Vision House is now online. A permanent link has been added to it on the Organizations page. Vision House works to provide cognitive, psychosocial, prevocational, and vocational rehabilitation services for area adult survivors of Acquired Brain Injury.

February 11, 1999

There's a new survey up and running today. This one concerns the other big trial going on right now. Although not as well covered by the media as the impeachment trial, the Microsoft trial has already featured arguably more interesting courtroom theatrics ranging from withering cross-examination by both sides to apparently doctored video "evidence" on the part of the defendent.

February 10, 1999

The Saugus Commission on Disabilities page is now available. Its direct URL is:

http://town.saugus.ma.us/COD/
It will be permanently available through the Government page.

February 9, 1999

The Friends of Breakheart Reservation site has been updated to include information on their upcoming maple sugaring tours / demonstrations.

February 8, 1999

In addition to the usual updates, there have been some minor updates to the Education Resources page.

February 5, 1999

On the surface, just the usuals were updated today. We've been hard at work in the background though, and next week expect one or two more Saugus town commissions, committees, boards, departments, etc. and one more local non-profit group to come online. Perhaps there will be even more...

February 4, 1999

In addition to the usual updates in the usual places (Community Event Calendar, Computer Terms page, Guest Book, News page, etc.), there have been some minor updates to the News sources page.

February 3, 1999

There have been minor updates to both the Computer Extensions page and the Community Event Calendar recently.
