Google has recently updated its maps facility with satellite images, so now it's easily possible to see how Saugus landmarks like the Saugus Iron Works, Breakheart Reservation, Rumney Marsh, Saugus High School, Stackpole Field, Saugus Center, Cliftondale Square, and the Saugus River look from satellite. The view of Birch Pond with the reflection of the sky is particularly impressive.

Special Update:

It turns out that things didn't happen at Fenway Park on quite the same schedule we'd been told. However, people who watched though the whole game did get the chance to see Saugus High Alumnus CPT Paul B. Cole IV sing God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch.

We'd just like to point out an event listed for today in the Saugus Calendar, and mention that we've gotten additional word that even if you missed the earlier festivities there'll still be a bit more happening tonight at Fenway Park and it'll be shown on the Red Sox pre-game show starting at 6:30 or so. We were asked not to reveal at this point exactly what it'll be, but it's something that's never been done at Fenway Park before...

We've been asked to post the following regarding the new book being produced by the creators of A Gathering of Memories.:

As part of the request for information on the people of Saugus from 1900-2000 for the new book by the editors of A Gathering of Memories, anyone with information on artists from Saugus who worked during this time would be appreciated. Also, artists not from Saugus but who have contributed to the community or have created works of art depicting Saugus in some way should be considered as well.

Please send information to Tom Weddle at weddle@suscom-maine.net or phone (207-729-6122 evenings).
