We've been asked to post the following by the editors of the book A Gathering of Memories.:

Polls are being offered by the authors of A Gathering of Memories, now preparing a new book concentrating on the names and faces of people from 1900-2000.

The polls concern this past century in Saugus.

Poll 1 - Your choice for the most memorable moment in the history of Saugus sporting events in your lifetime.

Poll 2 - In this year of 2005 what among the things that have vanished from 1900-2000 do you miss the most?

Poll 3 - Memorable lines or quotes from any Saugonian 1900-2000 that you will forever link with that person. Sample: C.F. Nelson Pratt at the podium, about to embark on a speech in his famously stentorian voice - As unaccustomed as I am to public speaking...

In addition to the tally being made on Saugus.net, The Saugonian will conduct these polls in its next four issues then publish the results.

You are encouraged to offer your reasons for your choices as you submit your response(s) to the polls.

The Saugus School Department site was resurrected today. It had been defunct for an extended period of time. Please note that while it is alive and well again, it is still not fully up-to-date everywhere (some is, but most isn't).

Lately we've been hard at work behind-the-scenes on a couple of exciting new features. One of them, local Usenet news, we almost have ready now. Expect to hear the official announcement as early as this week or next. The other new features we'll continue to keep under wraps a little longer as we continue our secret testing...

The deadline for submissions is just a couple of weeks away, but up until then we'll be delighted to review new material for possible inclusion.

If you use Safari on a Macintosh for your browser and you have the new Mac OS 10.4 Tiger, you have the ability to view multiple integrated RSS feeds in a single page. What does this mean, you ask, and how does it benefit a typical Saugonian? The answer is that people with the described set-up may view the latest entries in the Saugus.net Dailies, the Saugus.net Guestbook, and the Saugus Community Blog on LiveJournal conveniently all in just one page by means of one link that covers multiple Saugus RSS feeds. This can potentially be a significant time-saver. There is currently no equivalent for MS-Windows, Linux, Solaris, or other systems; we'll keep watching though and let you know if one turns up.
