September 5, 2008

Many are concerned about Saugus Founders' Day in light of the expected storm. Currently the plan is that it will be held tomorrow as originally scheduled (albeit perhaps a bit later than usual if the weather doesn't cooperate). If it's too windy and rainy to hold it tomorrow, it will be held Sunday from noon to 5:00. Remember too that Founders' Day weekend has traditionally been a big weekend for yard sales locally, and a lot of people will be looking online to help plan out their day. If you're having a yard sale Founders' Day weekend, don't forget to post it so that people can find it.

September 4, 2008

We've posted info about this year's Halloween Ghost Story Contest, including the detailed rules. Please note that the deadline for submission this year is the 23rd, a few days earlier than it was in past years. As the average length of stories has increased, our judges need more reading time.

The Saugus Founders' Day Committee asked us to post the following:

Parking For Saugus Founders Day

Parking is always a problem on this day for the community. The Saugus Founders' Day Committee would appreciate residents of Saugus and visitors attending this event to avoid parking in front of the local businesses in and around Saugus Center. Business will be going on as usual and it is difficult when the parking spaces are taken up for hours when they need the spaces for their customers. Please remember that there will be tickets given out if you are parked in front of the businesses longer than time allowed. There will be some parking available on the side streets going towards the Saugus Iron Works if you are early and thank you to Blessed Sacrament Church for again allowing parking in the far rear of the church parking lot.

Handicapped Parking for Saugus Founders Day

Parking spaces are being reserved for Saugus Founders' Day. Parking in back of the Saugus Public Library will be reserved for Vendors that are Handicapped. Handicapped Parking spaces are being reserved along the side of the old Fire Station and spaces reserved on Hamilton Street across from the Saugusbank / First Congregational Church. Please allow these spaces to be utilized for this day for this reason.

September 1, 2008

The office will be closed today for the holiday. However, the Community Events Calendar, Yard Sales Calendar, and other like pages will continue to be updated.
